Pyrolysis: the degradation of molecules at elevated temperature, this process is affected by thermal energy only,
Analytical pyrolysis studies the behavior of molecules during pyrolysis or molecules fragments, to identify the molecules produced in pyrolysis.
pyrolysis parameters: time, temperature, heating rate if properly will the pyrolysis products will be produced in reproducible way.
Pyrolysis mechanism: random scissions, side group scission and monomer inversion.
after pyrolyzed the pyrolysate products will be separated on Column then
detected by Mass spectrometer 
3030D pyrolyzer, GC 7890A and mass agilent 5975 mass spectrometer
Pyrolysis degradation mechanisms are the free radical process and the weakest bonds will break first
the stability of the free radicals involved and produced molecules.
Troubleshooting
Needle clogged: the samples accumulated in this case open the pyrolyzer and clean or replace the needles, The pressure can not be set to
Needles loosen.
Septum: needs to be replaced in case
